cPanel shows your account's storage and data transfer usage in a few places, which is useful for keeping an eye on your plan's limits before you hit them.
Quick Usage Overview
- Log in to cPanel.
- Look at the sidebar or the General Information panel on the main dashboard.
- Disk Usage and Bandwidth are shown there, usually as a used amount against your plan's total, or as "unmetered" if your plan doesn't cap bandwidth.
Seeing What's Using the Most Space
- Under the Files section, click Disk Usage.
- This shows a breakdown by folder, including public_html, mail, and any backups stored on the account, so you can see quickly whether large email storage or large website files are the bigger contributor.
Detailed Bandwidth History
Under the Metrics section, the Bandwidth tool shows a monthly breakdown of data transfer by service (HTTP, email, and FTP), which helps identify whether a traffic spike or a large email account is behind a sudden increase.
If email storage is the main contributor to disk usage, review old accounts for large attachments or years of unread mail. Deleting unnecessary messages, or archiving them locally in a mail client, is often the fastest way to free up space.
