Why Is Your Website Showing an "Account Suspended" Message and How to Fix It

If your website shows a plain page saying your account has been suspended instead of your usual site, your hosting account has been temporarily disabled. This is different from a domain expiring or a 404/500 error: it means access to your entire hosting account has been switched off, usually by your hosting provider rather than caused by something broken in your code.

Common reasons an account gets suspended

  • An overdue invoice. This is the most common reason. Hosting is billed on a cycle, and an account that isn't paid by the due date is usually suspended shortly after.
  • Exceeding your resource limits. Every hosting plan has limits on things like CPU usage, memory, or the number of processes your site can run at once. A site that consistently goes over these limits (often due to a plugin gone wrong or a traffic spike) can be suspended to protect other accounts on the same server.
  • A terms of service violation. This includes things like malware or compromised files being detected on your account, or your account being used to send spam email.
  • An account still pending verification. New accounts are occasionally held until identity or payment details are confirmed.

How to find out why your account was suspended

  1. Check the email inbox you used to sign up, including your spam folder. Suspension notices are almost always sent by email before or right after the suspension happens.
  2. Log in to your ZIPROF client area and check for any outstanding invoices or account notices.
  3. If you still can't tell why, contact ZIPROF support directly with your domain name or invoice number so they can check the account and explain the reason.
A suspended account is not the same as a cancelled or terminated one. In most cases, your files, email, and databases are still intact and reactivation is quick once the underlying issue is resolved.

Fixing a suspension caused by an unpaid invoice

  1. Log in to your ZIPROF client area and open the unpaid invoice.
  2. Pay via MPesa Paybill, using the Paybill number as the Business Number and your full invoice number (including its ZQ prefix, e.g. ZQ1203) as the Account Number. Enter it exactly as shown on your invoice, not just the digits.
  3. Once payment reflects, your account is typically reactivated automatically. If it isn't back within a reasonable time, reach out to ZIPROF support with your payment confirmation.

Fixing a suspension caused by resource use or a policy issue

These suspensions need a human to review the account before it can be switched back on. Contact ZIPROF support and explain that your site is suspended. If the cause was heavy resource usage, be ready to describe what changed recently (a new plugin, a traffic spike, a script you added) so support can advise on a fix before reactivating. If malware was the cause, support will let you know what needs to be cleaned up first.

Once you know why your account was suspended and how to resolve it, see how to pay your ZIPROF invoice via MPesa for the full payment walkthrough, or contact ZIPROF support if the issue isn't billing-related.
