Auto-renew is switched on by default for every domain so it doesn't lapse by accident. If you're planning to let a domain go, move it elsewhere, or just want to control renewals manually instead of being charged automatically, you can turn auto-renew off from your client area in a couple of minutes.
Turning Off Auto-Renew
- Log in to your ZIPROF client area.
- Go to Domains in the main menu, then select My Domains.
- Click on the domain you want to change.
- Find the Auto Renew setting on the domain's management page and switch it to Do Not Renew (or toggle it off, depending on how it's labeled).
- Save the change if you're prompted to.
That's it. The domain stays active and fully functional until its current expiry date. Nothing is cancelled immediately, you've simply told the system not to renew it automatically when that date arrives.
What Happens Next
Once auto-renew is off, you won't be automatically invoiced or charged for that domain going forward. It's now on you to renew it manually before it expires, if you decide you want to keep it after all.
If the domain reaches its expiry date with auto-renew off and no manual renewal, it will expire and eventually be released for anyone to register. Set yourself a reminder a few weeks before the expiry date if there's any chance you'll change your mind.
Changed Your Mind Later?
You can switch auto-renew back on at any time before the domain expires, using the same toggle in your client area. This only stops the automatic renewal and charge, it doesn't lock, transfer, or delete the domain on its own.
