How to Set Up Your Email on iPhone (iOS Mail App)

Your hosting account comes with mail server settings you can use in any mail app, including the built-in Mail app on iPhone and iPad. The setup is the same regardless of whether your hosting runs on cPanel or DirectAdmin, since both hand you the same three pieces of information: the mail server address, your full email address, and your mailbox password.

Before you start

Find your mail server hostname, usually mail.yourdomain.com, along with the port numbers for IMAP and SMTP. You can find these in your control panel's Email Accounts section under Connect Devices or Configure Mail Client. If you are not sure, ask ZIPROF support and we will send you the exact settings for your account.

Adding the account

1. On your iPhone, open Settings and tap Mail.
2. Tap Accounts, then Add Account.
3. Tap Other, then Add Mail Account.
4. Enter your name, your full email address, your password, and a description such as your business name, then tap Next.
5. Choose IMAP at the top of the next screen. IMAP keeps your mail synced across your phone, computer, and webmail, while POP3 downloads mail to one device only and is rarely the right choice today.
6. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter your mail server hostname, your full email address as the username, and your mailbox password.
7. Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter the same hostname, username, and password.
8. Tap Next. iOS will verify the settings, which can take a moment.

If iOS asks for port and SSL settings

Some iOS versions let you set ports manually after the initial verification, under Advanced in the account settings. Use these unless your control panel's mail client page shows different values:

• IMAP (incoming): port 993, SSL on.
• SMTP (outgoing): port 465, SSL on.

If verification fails, double-check your password first. This is the most common cause of a rejected setup. If the password is correct and it still fails, confirm the mail server hostname matches exactly what your control panel shows, since a mismatched or outdated hostname will also block the connection.

Once verified, tap Save and your email will appear in the Mail app alongside any other accounts you have added.
