How to Set Up Your Business Email on a Samsung Phone (Samsung Email App)

If you use a Samsung Galaxy phone, you can add your business email account to the phone's built-in Samsung Email app instead of using Gmail or Outlook. Samsung Email doesn't always detect business email settings automatically, so you'll usually need to enter your mail server details yourself. Here's how.

What You'll Need

Before you start, have the following ready:

  • Your full email address (for example, [email protected])
  • Your email account password
  • A working internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) on your phone

Step 1: Start Adding the Account

  1. Open the Email app on your Samsung phone. If this is the first account you're adding, it opens straight into the setup screen. Otherwise, open the side menu, tap Settings, then Add account.
  2. Enter your full email address, then tap Manual setup rather than letting the app try to detect the settings on its own.
  3. When asked to choose an account type, select IMAP account unless you have a specific reason to use POP3. IMAP keeps your mail in sync across all your devices, while POP3 downloads messages to a single device.
Not sure whether to choose IMAP or POP3? See IMAP vs POP3: Which Should You Use for Email on Your Phone? before you continue.

Step 2: Enter Your Incoming Server Settings

On the incoming server screen, enter:

  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your email account password
  • IMAP server: mail.yourdomain.com, replacing yourdomain.com with your own domain
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Port: 993

If you chose POP3 instead, use port 995 with SSL/TLS. Keep in mind that mail downloaded this way won't show up on your other devices.

Step 3: Enter Your Outgoing (SMTP) Server Settings

  • SMTP server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Port: 465
  • Turn on Require sign-in, and enter your full email address and password again if prompted

Step 4: Finish and Choose Sync Settings

Tap Next or Sign in. Samsung Email will try to connect using the details you entered. Once it connects, you'll see options for how often to check for mail, whether to sync contacts and calendar, and how far back to download old messages. Pick settings that suit your phone's storage and how quickly you need new mail to arrive, then tap Done.

If the App Won't Connect

  • Check for extra spaces before or after your email address or password; these are easy to miss and will block sign-in.
  • Make sure the security type and ports match exactly what's listed above. A mismatched port or security type is the most common reason manual setup fails.
  • Log in to your webmail in a browser first to confirm the account isn't locked, suspended, or over its storage quota.
Managing more than one business email address? You can add additional accounts in Samsung Email under Settings > Add account, then switch between them from the account list in the side menu.

Once it's set up, your business email works like any other account in Samsung Email: you'll get notifications for new messages based on the sync settings you chose in Step 4, and you can send and receive mail without opening a browser.
