If you no longer need a ZIPROF hosting plan or other service, you can request cancellation from your Client Area. This stops future billing for that service, but it does not happen instantly and it does not automatically cancel a domain name. Here is what to do and what to expect.
Before You Cancel
Cancelling a hosting plan removes your website, email accounts, and files once the service ends. Before you submit a cancellation request:
- Download a full backup of your website files and databases.
- Export any email you want to keep, or forward it to another address.
- Note down your DNS records if you plan to move the domain elsewhere.
Cancelling hosting does not cancel a domain name registered through ZIPROF. Domains are billed and renewed separately, so you need to handle them on their own (see the section below).
How to Cancel a Hosting Plan or Other Service
- Log in to your ZIPROF Client Area.
- Go to Services and open the service you want to cancel.
- Click the Management Actions dropdown and select Request Cancellation.
- Choose whether the cancellation should take effect Immediately or at the End of the Billing Period. Ending it at the close of the billing period lets you keep using the service until the time you have already paid for runs out.
- Enter a short reason for cancelling if asked, then click Request Cancellation to submit.
Your request goes to ZIPROF for processing. You will get a confirmation once it has been actioned, and billing for that service stops from the date you chose.
Cancelling or Not Renewing a Domain
Domain names cannot be cancelled instantly the way hosting can. Instead, you either let the domain lapse by not renewing it, or you transfer it away before it expires.
- If you plan to stop using the domain, turn off Auto Renew for it in your Client Area so it is not billed again.
- If you want to keep using the domain elsewhere, request an EPP/authorization code and transfer it to your new registrar before the renewal date.
- If you simply stop paying, the domain will expire and eventually be released for anyone to register, so only do this on purpose.
Once a domain expires and passes its redemption window, it can be registered by someone else. If you still want the domain, act before the expiry date rather than after.
What Happens After You Cancel
- Your website, files, and email accounts on that hosting plan stop working once the cancellation takes effect.
- Any unused balance is not automatically refunded. If you believe you are owed a refund, raise it with support through a ticket in your Client Area.
- If you cancel hosting but keep your domain with ZIPROF, the domain stays active and you can point it to a new host at any time.
If you are cancelling to move your domain elsewhere rather than closing it down, see how auto-renew works for your domain before you go, so you don't lose it during the move.
