Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second check, a code from your phone, on top of your password when you log in to your ZIPROF client area. This protects your invoices, domain and hosting details, and support tickets even if someone else gets hold of your password. Here's how to turn it on.
Why enable 2FA on your client area
Your client area holds your billing history, domain management access, and contact details. If your email or password is ever guessed or leaked, 2FA stops an attacker from logging in without also having your phone. It takes about two minutes to set up and only asks for the extra code occasionally, not every single login.
This protects your ZIPROF client area login specifically. It's separate from your cPanel or DirectAdmin control panel login, which has its own 2FA setting.
Before you start
You'll need a smartphone with a free authenticator app installed, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. These apps generate a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds that only your phone can produce.
How to enable 2FA
- Log in to your ZIPROF client area.
- Click your name or account icon in the top-right corner and open My Details.
- Go to the Security Settings tab.
- Find the Two-Factor Authentication section and click Enable.
- A QR code will appear. Open your authenticator app, choose to add a new account, and scan the QR code with your phone's camera.
- Your app will display a 6-digit code. Type that code into the confirmation field on the client area page.
- Click Confirm or Save Changes to finish setup.
Once this is saved, 2FA is active on your account.
Logging in once 2FA is enabled
From now on, after you enter your email and password, you'll be prompted for a 6-digit code. Open your authenticator app, find the ZIPROF entry, and type in the current code shown before it expires.
If you lose access to your authenticator app
If you get a new phone or lose the device your authenticator app was on, you won't be able to generate new codes, and you won't be able to log in on your own.
Don't try repeatedly guessing codes or resetting your password alone. Open a support ticket (or email ZIPROF support from the address on your account) so staff can verify your identity and disable 2FA on your account, after which you can log in normally and set it up again on your new device.
