A dedicated IP address is reserved for your website alone, instead of being shared with other accounts on the same server. Most ZIPROF hosting accounts use a shared IP by default, which works fine for the vast majority of websites. If you specifically need a dedicated IP, you'll need to request one through ZIPROF support rather than assigning it yourself in your control panel.
When You Might Need One
Dedicated IPs are only necessary in a few specific situations, such as a software license or payment gateway requirement that's tied to a fixed IP, running an application that needs its own IP for whitelisting, or a compliance requirement from a third party you work with. If you're not sure whether your situation calls for one, see Dedicated IP vs Shared IP Hosting: Which Do You Need? before requesting a change.
A dedicated IP is not needed just to install an SSL certificate on modern hosting. ZIPROF's servers support SNI, so your website can have its own valid SSL certificate while still using a shared IP.
How to Request a Dedicated IP From ZIPROF
Dedicated IPs are assigned at the server level, so this isn't something you can turn on yourself from cPanel or DirectAdmin. You'll need to submit a request through your ZIPROF Client Area.
- Log in to your ZIPROF Client Area.
- Open a new support ticket under Support Tickets.
- Choose the department related to hosting or technical support.
- State clearly that you're requesting a dedicated IP address, name the domain or hosting account it applies to, and explain why you need one.
- Submit the ticket and wait for a ZIPROF support agent to confirm availability and any applicable cost, since dedicated IPs are a limited resource and may carry an additional charge.
What Happens After Your Request Is Approved
Once ZIPROF assigns a dedicated IP to your account, support will confirm the new IP address with you. A few things typically follow:
- Your website's A record may need to be updated to point to the new IP, if it isn't updated automatically.
- Any SSL certificate tied to the account may need to be reissued or rebound to the new IP.
- If other services, like a payment gateway or licensed software, need to be told about the new IP, you'll need to update those separately.
DNS changes after an IP update can take a few hours to propagate fully. If your site or email seems to be pointing at the old IP right after the change, give it some time before troubleshooting further.
How to Confirm Your Dedicated IP Is Active
In cPanel
- Log in to cPanel.
- Open the General Information panel on the right side of the dashboard, or go to Account Information.
- Check the Shared IP Address or Dedicated IP field. After the change is applied, this will show the new dedicated address.
In DirectAdmin
- Log in to DirectAdmin.
- From the main dashboard, check your account's IP details, usually shown under your domain's setup or Account Manager summary.
- Confirm the IP listed matches the dedicated IP ZIPROF provided.
If the IP shown in your control panel doesn't match what support confirmed, or your website still isn't reachable on the new IP after a day, open a follow-up ticket so ZIPROF can check the assignment.
