How to Upgrade or Downgrade Your ZIPROF Hosting Plan

If your website has outgrown its current hosting plan, or you're paying for more than you actually use, you can switch to a different ZIPROF hosting plan without moving your website or losing your data. This is done through your ZIPROF Client Area, not through cPanel or DirectAdmin.

Signs you may need to upgrade

  • You're regularly hitting your disk space or bandwidth limit.
  • Your site is slow during busy periods, or you keep getting resource-usage warnings.
  • You need to host more email accounts, databases, or additional domains than your current plan allows.

Signs you could downgrade

  • You're using a small fraction of your allocated disk space and bandwidth month after month.
  • You no longer need the extra domains, databases, or email accounts your current plan includes.
Before deciding either way, check your current usage first. See Understanding Your Hosting Account: Disk Space and Bandwidth Limits for where to find this in cPanel or DirectAdmin.

How to request a plan change

  1. Log in to your ZIPROF Client Area.
  2. Go to Services, then My Services.
  3. Find the hosting service you want to change and click Upgrade/Downgrade (sometimes shown as Change Plan).
  4. Select the plan you want to move to from the list shown.
  5. Review the price difference. Upgrades are usually billed as a prorated top-up for the rest of your current billing cycle; downgrades apply the new, lower price from your next renewal.
  6. Confirm the request. If a payment is due immediately, you'll be issued an invoice you can pay through MPesa Paybill using your invoice number as the account number.
  7. Once ZIPROF processes the request, you'll get a confirmation. Most upgrades take effect within a few hours; no website downtime is expected.

What happens to your website and data

Your files, databases, and email accounts stay exactly as they are. A plan change only adjusts your account's resource limits (disk space, bandwidth, number of domains, and similar), it does not move, reinstall, or reset anything on your hosting account.

A downgrade will be declined if your current usage exceeds the limits of the smaller plan. Reduce your disk space usage, remove unused email accounts or addon domains, or clean up old backups before requesting the downgrade.
